After losing the recent Assembly polls from Mawsynram constituency, the political future of Pyngshain N Syiem looks very bleak with a total number of 20 MDCs joining hands to remove him from the post of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC.
Sources today revealed that the 20 MDCs include those who had contested the Assembly elections from People’s Democratic Front (PDF) which is the brain child of the KHADC CEM.
Besides the PDF MDCs’, sources revealed that the MDCs of the other four political parties are involved in this move to oust Syiem as the chief of the KHADC.
According to sources, the MDCs are not happy with KHADC CEM since they have not been given an equal share to the funds amounting to Rs 33 crore which was allocated by the Centre to the Council last year.
Sources said that there are allegations that Syiem had given the work order to the contractors who are close to him to implement the project from the funds allocated by the Central Government.
The MDCs are planning to move a no-confidence motion against Syiem during the upcoming Budget Session of the Council which is scheduled to be held on March 20.
Another informed source said that the MDCs have proposed the name of KHADC chairman LG Nongsiej to take over the post of the CEM in the KHADC.
