In a tragic incident, a tourist hailing from Andhra Pradesh drowned while swimming in Rainbow Falls near the famous Living Root Bridge on Thursday morning.
It was informed that the deceased, identified as 20- years old Ravi Chandra, had gone to the Living Root Bridge and decided to take a dip at a nearby Falls when the mishap happened.
Police informed that his body was recovered at around 3 pm today and will be released to his family members after post-mortem.
It may be mentioned that this is not an isolated instance of tourists drowning in rivers and streams in Meghalaya.
Last year, two youths including one from West Bengal drowned at Janailar stream in Sohra after attending NH-7 Weekender.
