TURA | May 15, 2019:

The State Police today apprehended three persons, including a juvenile, for their alleged involvement in a dacoity case reported earlier this week in Tamsura village in East Garo Hills district.

The three apprehended were allegedly a part of a larger group of criminals, two of who are currently evading arrest.

At about 8:30 pm, on May 12, a group of armed dacoits waylaid a group of vehicles while they were moving on the National Highway – 62 looting them of cash and valuables in the village of Tamsura under Rongmil OGC. A case to the effect was taken up by the Rongjeng PS in EGH.

“Early morning on May 15, five persons were picked up from Gabil Bisa of which three persons — Manchang G Momin and Meksin G Momin were involved in connection with the dacoity that took place. Another juvenile was also apprehended as part of the same case,” said EGH district police chief, Ringrang TG Momin.

During questioning, the three divulged the names of two other people involved in the crime though the duo are said to be evading arrest.

Three mobile handsets were recovered and seized from them in connection with the case.

“They shall be taken into police custody for further questioning,” added the SP.
