- Former Congress leader, DD Lapang appointed as Chief Adviser to the NPP-led MDA Government
- Lapang is entitled to all perks and facilities under category A+
- Lapang’s appointment raises many questions on his political affiliation
Shillong, Oct 04, 2018:
Almost a month after former Chief Minister, DD Lapang resigned from the Congress party, the veteran leader has been appointed as the Chief Adviser to the NPP-led MDA Government on Thursday.
The notification, which was issued today, stated that Lapang will be entitled to all the perks and facilities under category “A+” with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.
This development seems to have minutely unraveled the unannounced decision of Lapang to join any other party following his resignation from the Congress.
It may be mentioned that the State Congress had earlier termed Lapang’s decision to leave the party as a pre-determined plan.
Lapang resigned from the Grand Old Party last month over the “Phasing out elderly members” policy of the AICC President Rahul Gandhi, the same of which did not go down very well with the Opposition Congress as they termed the allegations as an “excuse”.
