The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association has threatened to launch protests if the State Government fails to pay their pending salaries and arrears by December 13.

In a memorandum submitted to the Education Minister, Lakhmen Rymbui recently, the association sought the release of 3 months’ salaries that have remained pending since September this year. The association sought the release of salaries for the 3 months as well as December with immediate effect.

Furthermore, they also demanded the release of pending arrears which has remained unpaid since 2016.

“We have submitted various petitions on the matter to authorities but to no avail. We therefore urge you to release the arrears with immediate effect,” stated the memo while adding that it was hard to run their lives without salaries being regular.

The association has given until Dec 13 for the release of salaries and arrears failing of which they will launch democratic agitations on the matter.
