Shillong, December 22, 2017: Meghalaya government yesterday had signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Renew Joule Private Limited to set up three power plants that will convert kinetic energy into electric energy.
Energy will be tapped by using new technology called “Closed Loop Vertical Turbine”.
The 120 mega watts project to be executed on Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis is a first renewable technology in Asia.
This new technology works on the principle of buoyancy and gravity to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy.
The company would initially develop 24 mega watts out of 100 mega watts at Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi district and subsequently at Mendipathar and Ampati in Garo Hills.
