With elections just round the corner, political parties both regional and national are on their toes with preparations going on in full swing in the poll-bound state of Meghalaya. As the tug of war continues, parties’ supremos are in constant touch with their members in all units to ensure that no stone is left unturned in attaining victory. Almost after a month since the PM visited Shillong on December 16, Amit Shah paid his second to the hillstate whereby he addressed a public rally at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills. He is also expected to inaugurate the BJP New Party Office in Shillong on the same day.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, National President on Wednesday alleged that the Mukul Sangma led Congress government is non-cooperative with the centre and hence the developmental initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not fructifying in Meghalaya.
Addressing a huge crowd of BJP supporters at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, the BJP President, Amit Shah took a dig at the congress government in the state and said that the state lacks development in various front be it health, tourism or employment generation despite several attempts and crores of funding sanctioned by the centre.
Stating that the congress government in the state is not cooperating with the centre who is keen on developing the state, Shah said that it is about time that a government comes who will enable Prime Minister Narendra Mod to work for the wellbeing of the state and BJP will come to power and uproot corruption.
Shah alleged that the development of Meghalaya is marred with the corrupt practices of the Congress government and the fund sanctioned are looted while over 45 percent youth remains unemployed, state suffers due to lack of doctors and tourism potential of the state remains untapped.
Shah pointed out that when the Union Tourism Minister had called for a meeting no officials had attended the meet.

Stating that after the 14th Finance Commission over Rs 25,000 crore has been sanctioned by the centre while earlier it was only Rs 5000 crore , Shah Asked for an account sheet of the Rs 25,000 crore.
Shah further mentioned that Rs 31,000 crore have been invested only for Meghalaya by the Narendra Modi-led government while Rs 5,300 crore has been spent on road connectivity.
Shah was accompanied by Union tourism minister KJ Alphons, who is also the party in-charge for the assembly election, BJP minister from Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli, BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh and other party leaders.
After the rally Shah will inaugurate the newly constructed BJP office in Shillong and also hold interactions with party workers here.
