Shillong, Tura, Aug 27, 2018: 

While the National People’s Party (NPP) emerged victorious in South Tura Bypolls, it has lost its ground in Ranikor as the five times MLA, MM Danggo suffered defeat in the hands of the NPP’s alliance partner — United Democratic Alliance (UDP).

UDP’s Pius Marwein took over the reign from the former Congress heavyweight following a tough battle. UDP managed to secured 13183 votes while NPP could gather only 10287 votes. UDP won the bypolls in Ranikor by a margin of 2896 votes. INC secured 938, PDF at 1978 and NOTA at 184.

10.30 am: 

By the end of the 6th round, the UDP is still leading in Ranikor and NPP candidate and former Ranikor MLA, MM Danggo is on the verge of losing. In this round, UDP secured 1778, INC 94, NPP 1519, PDF 142 and NOTA 23. Cumulatively, the UDP is leading by 3390

10.15 am:

Chief Minister and NPP’s candidate, Conrad K Sangma has won the South Tura assembly seat by a margin of 8421. At the end of all the round, the NPP secured 13656, INC- 5235, Chris Kabul- 897
John leslee- 2211 and NOTA – 218.

In Ranikor, the UDP candidate, Pius Marwein is still leading the race.

9.45 am: 

At the end of the third round, the NPP is still leading by 7725 votes in South Tura. After three round, cumulatively, the NPP is at 12960 while INC at 5235. In Ranikor, UDP is at 7103, NPP at 2621, INC – 397, PDF at 1475 and NOTA 68.

9.00 am:

At the end of the second round, the NPP is still leading in South Tura by 5800 votes. The NPP is at 5474, INC 2168 and cumulatively, the NPP has secured 10091 votes while INC stands at 4191 so far. Chris Kabul secured 724, John Leslee at 1871 and NOTA-173 votes.

In Ranikor, the UDP is still leading with a vote count of 1921 in the second round followed by NPP which secured 834, PDF-322, INC at 154 and NOTA at 19.

8.30 am:

In the first round, in South Tura, the NPP secured 4617, INC- 2023, Chris Kabul – 348, John Leslee – 953 and Nota- 76. Meanwhile, in Ranikor, the UDP secured 2377, NPP 1033, PDF 396 and INC 84 votes.

In South Tura — The NPP candidate is none other than Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, Congress’ candidate Charlotte W Momin, former South Tura MLA, John Leslee K Sangma (Independent) and Kris Kabul Sangma (Independent).

In Ranikor — NPP candidate is former Minister, MM Dangggo, UDP’s Pius Marwein, Congress candidate Jackuish K Sangma and PDF chairman Pynshgain N Syiem.
