On Jan 11, the Police again registered a Suo-Moto case against leaders and members of HYNF, RBYF and FKJGP for gathering at Khyndailad near Old Assembly building gate, Shillong on Friday in protest against the bill.

The Police informed that the gathering was held without prior permission of the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills.

“The gathering and protesting at a busy location had created fear psychosis amongst the public within the area and also obstructed movement of vehicles causing inconvenience to the public at large,” said the State Police.

Furthermore, the Police stated that certain leaders of the various NGOs gave speeches which “promote enmity between different communities and religions.”
