KHLIEHRIAT | Sept 13, 2019:
One Ivory Coast citizen and two Nigerian citizens, traveling in a night super bus from Silchar to Guwahati, were detected by the Meghalaya Police in Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills on Friday. The trio has been detained for interrogation.
According to the Police, the trio admitted that they travelled from Africa to Bangladesh by air on the strength of Visa duly granted to them by the competent authorities but illegally entered into India near Agartala in Tripura in the morning of September 12.
From Agartala, they traveled in a car to Silchar. They were assisted in this regard by some locals both on Bangladesh side as well as on the Indian side.
“In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation has been started,” Police said.
They have been identified as NnyigideJamina Okenchukwu (48) and Okeke Ifechukwu John (27) of Nigeria and Koman Daniel (21) also from Nigeria but holds Ivory Coast passport.

The weapons were found a group of vigilant fishermen who helped police in retrieving the arms.

In yet another drug bust in Meghalaya, the ANTF-East Jaintia Hills, ANTF-East Khasi Hills and Khliehriat PS on Thursday recovered approximately 76000 numbers of YaBA tablets commonly known as “World is Yours” tablets or “Madness Drug” weighing around 7.85 kg with estimated street value of Approx 1 crore at Khliehriat during a Joint operation.
