Clash over land ownership claims three lives in WJH

Three people lost their life following a clash over land ownership between the Manar clan and village Dorbar of Amlanai village in West Jaintia Hills on Friday night at around 8.30 pm.
The three people who were killed in the incident include the headman of the village (Waheh Shnong), Thomlin Surong and secretary of the village dorbar. The name of the third person who was killed in the incident is not yet known.
Sources said that the tussle on the ownership over the land in the village was a long pending one adding that the matter is also pending in the court.
Sources said that the land belonging to the Manar clan is a huge one and it stretch from Amlanai upto Trangblang village.
However, the clash between the villagers and the members of the clan has created a ‘fear pyschoshis’ among the villagers of the two villages.
Following the incident, the West Jaintia Hills district administration have imposed Section 144 CrPC in the areas following under Amlanai and Trangblang village.
