Indian Navy detects fourth body in coal pit

Shillong, Feb 25 (IANS) Indian Navy divers have located a fourth body, completely decomposed, in the 370-feet deep flooded coal mine in the East Jaintia Hills district, where over a dozen miners remain trapped since December 13, an official said on Sunday.

Curfew hours relaxed further in Shillong; mobile internet restored

Following the Motphran clash that took place on May 31, 2018, Shillong has been reeling under curfews and mobile internet ban for more than two weeks now.

As per a recent notification, the curfew hours have been relaxed further in Shillong Agglomeration. The curfew today will be enforced from 11 pm to 5am.

Curfew hours for areas falling under Lumdiengjri Police Station that is, Jaiaw, Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Riatsamthiah, Wahingdoh, Mission, Mawprem, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Qualapatty, Wahthapbru, Sunny Hill, Cantonment, Mawlong Hat including Cantonment Beat House Areas (excluding localities beyond Umshyrpi bridge) will be from 9 pm to 5 am.

The blanket ban on mobile internet services has also been restored from today afternoon.

One person arrested in connection with Coal Mine Tragedy in Jaintia Hills

Three days after 13 miners were trapped inside a “rat-hole” mine in Ksan village near Lyntein river in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, rescue operations are still on even as rescuers find it difficult to make it pass the flooded portion of the mine.
