Meghalaya SSA teachers pin hope on CM’s meet with MHRD for fulfillment of pending demands

The Meghalaya SSA School Association Central on July 6 called on the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui and discussed two important issues regarding allocation of funds from State Budget for payment of SSA teachers’ pending dues and problems of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Programme for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17.
Aristotle C Rymbai President of Meghalaya SSA School Association Central Body on his statement issued here today informed, after the Association submitted the representation to the State Government on June 15 on the two important points regarding allocation of funds from State Budget for payment of SSA teachers pending dues which includes payment of three months salary of current academic year for the month of April, May and June and eight months Arrear Salary of Financial year 2016-17 and problems of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Programme for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17, the delegation of the Association on July 6 met the Education Minister for discussion on the issues.
He (Lahkmen Rymbui) informed, “the delay of the State Government to release the salary of current academic year to the SSA teachers is due to non release of Adhoc installment to the Govt of Meghalaya by Ministry of Human Resources Development Govt of India and added that he is concerned about the problems faced by SSA teachers every now and then due to irregular release of salary and the State Government trying its best to find out permanent solution to the problems. Rymbui  also added the Education department had sent a proposal to the Finance department, Govt of Meghalaya for allocation of funds from State Budget to SSA-SEMAM for payment of SSA teachers salary for two months and is under process so that the teachers can manage their livelihood for the time being till MHRD Govt of India released the funds to the State Government.
“The Education Minister also informed, he have wrote to the Chief Minister for allocation of funds for payment of SSA teachers Arrear salary for the financial year 2016-17 at the earliest possible date which also remains pending for almost 2 years” Rymbui had assured us to solve the matters at the earliest, A. C. Rymbai said.
Rymbui also informed, the delegation of the State Government led by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will leave for New Delhi to meet the Competent Authority of MHRD on 18,19 and 20 this month for release of funds for implementation of SSA programme to Meghalaya and other issues related to SSA Teachers. The delegation will also meet the Competent Authority of NIOS for discussion on the problems of  the D. El. Ed Course for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17, Rymbai added.
Aristotle C Rymbai also said his conversation with the Chief Minister who is in New Delhi informed that the State Government is trying to get the funds released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development Govt of India in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, the Association requested all the SSA Teachers to be patient. The Association will meet the Chief Minister after his return from New Delhi.

Meghalaya: Congress creating false propaganda against BJP- Kiren Rijiju

As the campaigning reaches a new high with just a day left for the same, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju visited Shillong today to campaign for the BJP. During his visit, Kiren Rijiju said that the Congress party is trying to create a false propaganda that the BJP is a ‘communal party’ and ‘anti-Christian” only to hide its failure.

‘It is painful to see that the Congress party is trying to hide its failure under the garb of spreading false propaganda. This is the most unfortunate thing which cannot be tolerated,” Rijiju told newsmen here today.

He also said that the Congress is also trying to project BJP as a the Hindu force adding to it the fact that religion and politics are two different things.

Complaints, FIRs against cash, muscle power aplenty during Ampati by-poll

SHILLONG, May 29, 2018: Meghalaya chief electoral officer F.R. Kharkongor has asked the district election authorities to take action in connection with complaints and counter-complaints related to violation of model code of conduct in Ampati constituency where voting for the bypoll was held on Monday.

Addressing reporters here on Monday evening after voting came to an end, Kharkongor said five FIRs and counter-FIRs were lodged and steps are taken to issue showcause notices to the parties.

On allegations that government machinery was misused and chief minister Conrad K. Sangma was moving around Ampati in violation of model code of conduct, Kharkongor said: “I have not received any official complaint. I have told poll officials that if a complaint comes immediate steps must be taken. The first step is to issue a showcause against the party which violates the model code of conduct.”

“All these cases will be investigated and the law will take its own course. As there are many FIRs and counter-FIRs, proper investigation has to be done,” Kharkongor said.

The Congress accused NPP leaders of bribing voters at Taktaki village.

The NPP accused Mukul Sangma of campaigning after the campaign period ended at Bollongitok village. A counter complaint against NPP leader Ian Botham Sangma was filed accusing him of staying illegally in Ampati though he is a resident of Tura. Botham filed a “false” complaint against Mukul as he (Mukul) was not present at Bollongitok village on Saturday.

On Monday, Congress candidate Miani D. Shira lodged a complaint, alleging that member of Garo Hills District Council Nipen Koch along with a few men were spotted distributing money at Samatigoan and they moved towards Murikati and Bandrikona villages.

Miani alleged that Raksamgre MLA of NPP Benedict R. Marak had assaulted and threatened headman Menondro Arengh of Thakuranbari village along with armed men. She said Benedict was seen moving towards Monabari and was last spotted at Rongramgre threatening villagers not to vote. An FIR has been filed at Monabari police station in this regard.

Meghalaya: Union Textiles Minister hails Mudra Yojana as a tool for Women Empowerment while in Shillong

Union Textiles Minister, Smriti Irani said that the Mudra Yojana has given an opportunity to women to become self employed.

“Under this scheme, we have seen close to over 4 lakh crore given out under the Mudra Yojana scheme. As a woman I am proud that 70 % of the beneficiaries are women. The scheme has exponentially increased the capacities of female entrepreneurs in the country,” Irani said while talking to media persons to highlight on the achievements of the BJP led NDA Government here on Tuesday.

She further observed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of a new India where the focus is not only on women development but on women led development where women become the flag bearers of development.

The Union Minister further stated that under Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao, the sex ratio at birth has improved in 104 districts.

“For the first time in the history of the country, the Prime Minister has commanded stringent action against those who thrust violence against women. We brought out an ordinance on death penalty for rapists whereby death penalty for rape of a girl child under 12 years was initiated,” she said.

Under the Jandhan Yojana, Irani informed that closely 31.53 crore citizen of India opened their bank accounts adding that India accounts for 55 percent of newly opened bank account globally and this in turn ensured that banking needs of the unbanked are served. While speaking on the Suraksha Bima Yojana, the Union Textiles Minister said that with a premium of just one rupee a month close to 13,25,00000 lakh people are now ensured under the Suraksha Bima Yojana adding that close to 5,52,00000 families now have the assistance at Rs 330 per year of Jivan Jyoti Yojana.
For the unorganised sector workers, she said that the BJP led NDA Government has started the Atal Pension Yojana and today there are one crore subscribers. Senior citizens under are given 8 % interest for ten years. Investment level has been doubled to Rs 15 lakh.

Touching on the Direct Benefit Transfer, she said that there are close to 431 schemes under the Government of India where money is now transferred directly to the bank account of citizens. “The Government has managed to save over 80,000 crore leakages which were enjoyed by the middlemen through the initiative under the DBT,” Irani said.

On the Total Sanitation Campaign, she said that  in 17 States and Union Territories 3,60,000 villages have now been declared Open Defecation Free even as 7.25 crore toilets have been constructed throughout the country.

“When the PM in 2014 received the historic mandate, sanitation coverage in the country was only 38 percent and in 2018, the sanitation coverage has gone up to 83 %.

Food security and security for those farmers who bring food to the table is a priority of the Government. We have assured that in these 48 months, more than 80 crore citizens of the country receive food security. In 2014 before PM Modi food security was only available in 11 States. Today food security is available in all 36 States and union territories.

She said that specially for the bamboo farmers in Northeast, 1290 crore has been allocated for the National Bamboo Mission so that smaller industries can be set up.

On the development of NE, she said that the BJP led Government has given special focus and clarion call for the development of the NE.
“The NITI Aayog Forum for the NE has been specially set up so that overall developmental activities of the NE can be discussed, strategies and implemented through this forum,” Union Textiles Minister added.
