Bus ferrying Odisha fire-fighters attacked by miscreants in East Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG | January 12, 2019:

A bus ferrying Odisha Fire Services personnel came under attack from miscreants in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district during the stay-off-the-road protest on Thursday night by Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisation to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill, police said on Friday.

SHILLONG, January 11, 2019: As part of the ongoing efforts to rescue trapped miners from a flooded coal mine in Meghalaya, multi-agencies personnel used high-powered pumps to drain out 28 lakh litres of water from the main shaft, where 15 miners got trapped, but navy divers have found no change in the water levels, officials said.

Almost a month since 15 miners were trapped in a rat-hole mine in Ksan village in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, authorities are yet to get any leads on the whereabouts of the trapped miners.
