Air Deccan ready to conduct flight services starting December with Shillong airport as main hub


SHILLONG, November 28, 2017: Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), low cost airline Air Deccan is set to start operations in the Northeast in December. The scheme is also known as UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) and will begin December 21.

Meghalaya: Government to restart lotteries


Shillong, November 25, 2017: Mukul Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya announced that the Excise Registration Taxation Stamps Department (ERTS)  has notified the new lottery rules and that there would soon be a bidding process to appoint a distributor to market the state government’s lotteries in states where such lottery sales are permitted. Sangma added that the government would prefer paper lotteries over online lotteries and the same would apply to central law, Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 and rules framed there under.

Govt to move Supreme Court against HC’s order over Meghalaya education scam


Shillong, November 22: The Meghalaya Government on Tuesday decided to file an appeal before the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling of the Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court to order a CBI probe on the irregularities in the appointment of assistant teachers in the Government Lower Primary Schools.

It may be mentioned that after nearly ten years, the Meghalaya High Court recently directed the CBI to take over the criminal case filed against a “Government official and a politician” who allegedly tampered the result scores of candidates in a Government teachers’ recruitment process in 2009-2010.
