Umwali incident: NESO, AASU demand action against ‘erring’ Assam cops

In the wake of the Umwali clash along the Meghalaya-Assam interstate border, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) have condemned the action of Assam Police on local residents of Umwali near Langpih on Feb 14.

The Supreme Court Friday refused to withdraw judicial work from Meghalaya High Court judge Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen who had created controversy by his remarks that India should have been declared a Hindu country at the time of partition in 1947.
