SHILLONG | March 1, 2020:

The death toll in the aftermath of the clash, which erupted at Ichamati near Shella on Feb 28, has risen to three on March 1 with the latest killing being reported at Pyrken village under Shella PS in the wee hours of Sunday.

The East Khasi Hills district administration on Saturday imposed curfew under Section 144 of CrPC in Shillong city in order to prevent law and order deterioration in Meghalaya.

Following clashes between two groups in Ichamati under Shella PS which led to the death of a member of the KSU yesterday, the law and order situation in Shillong city and its adjoining areas including Sohra is being strictly monitored.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today informed that the state government has decided to provide ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased KSU member, Lurshai Hynniewta who was killed during a clash at Ichamati near Shella on Friday afternoon.
