After the Congress managed to secure a thumping victory in Ampati by polls, the party is now the single largest party in Meghalaya. Congress’s candidate Miani D Shira, daughter of former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma won the seat by over 3191 votes.

Cloudburst triggers landslide, water-clogging in Shillong

SHILLONG | Aug 22, 2019:

A cloudburst on Thursday afternoon triggered landslide in Rilbong area and water clogging in several areas of Shillong including Mawlonghat, Wahingdoh and Lachumiere.

Hailstones accompanied by heavy rains have become a usual occurrence in Meghalaya and although it might become a cause of inconvenience to many, nature lovers still take it as a delight.
