The Ranikor river, which was once known for its crystal clear water and home to various species of fish and other aquatic life, is now a dying river and this is evident from the mass death of aquatic species.

Days after thunderstorms disrupted normal life across the country, the Ri-bhoi district of the northeastern state of Meghalaya, witnessed a heavy downpour of rain and powerful winds on Sunday. Gusts of wind knocked down roofs, trees and destroyed a number of homes.

Hailstones accompanied by heavy rains have become a usual occurrence in Meghalaya and although it might become a cause of inconvenience to many, nature lovers still take it as a delight.

But, it’s not all beauty for Meghalaya because today’s hailstone also caused a lot of destruction in West Khasi Hills region of Meghalaya.
