Rahul’s effect: Ampareen to step down as AICC incharge of Mizoram

SHILLONG | July 03, 2019:

Meghalaya Congress legislator, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh on Wednesday decided to tender her resignation from the post of AICC In-charge Mizoram to pave way for the formation of a new team.

Her decision came just hours after AICC president Rahul Gandhi formally quit as party president while taking the responsibility for the loss of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Speculations are doing the rounds in the state with the reported demand for a change of leadership in the state Congress party. This was later confirmed by senior party legislator, Ampareen Lyngdoh who admitted that there was a discussion whether or not the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPC) and CLP should review the leadership.

AICC asks regional parties in Meghalaya to re-look their ties with BJP

AICC general secretary in charge North Eastern Region, Luzinho Faleiro on Friday said that the regional parties in Meghalaya need to re-look their alliance with the BJP as this may have serious negative impact in the long term.

There are no such demands for change of party leadership in Meghalaya, says AICC leader

Rejecting speculations on the demand for a change in the Congress leadership in the State, AICC general secretary in charge Northeastern States, Luzinho Faleiro said that he has not heard about any such demand being made either to the AICC or to him personally.
