SOT personnel sustains injuries after being attacked by drunk youths in Bivar Road

The victim said that initially there were five to six youths but later as many people started coming out from the crowd, it was too late before he realised that he had been surrounded by around 50 youths who started to assault him.

In a major boost to the Meghalaya Police, the General Secretary of the banned militant outfit — Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) surrendered before the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong and DGP, RP Agarwal here on Thursday.

It may be reminded that the encounter led to the death of one NDFB (S) militant during the cross fire while another from the same gang was lynched by an angry mob after being discovered while the rest were able to flee.
