Local girl wins gold; Meghalaya stands third at National Cadets & Junior Championship 2018

The Meghalaya Girl’s Team was adjudged as the 2nd Runners in at the 3rd National Cadets & Junior Kurash Championship 2018 held in Dhanbad Jharkhand from the 14th to the 18th of May, 2018.
Larisha Lyngdoh hailing from Pynthorumkhrah and studying at Vilco Secondary School Pynthorumkhrah secured a gold medal for her performance in the under-15, below 28 kg weight category at the junior championship.
Founding member and working president of the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association, Lorenzo Pearson Warjri has offered his congratulations to all the cadets and junior athletes of Meghalaya Kurash Association (MKA) who took part in the sporting event.

Northeast India has no dearth of talents in as far as the domain of sports is concerned, and if we talk about Mixed Martial arts, then Meghalaya is home to world no 5 kick boxing athlete Hameshaniah Suiam.

In yet another moment of pride, 7 talented jiu jitsu players will represent the state in a National Level Championship.

Damerbha Rumnong, Jonathan War Nongbri, Euwanphylla Marbaniang, Echwamida Phawa, Reforming Marwein, Frankystar Momin and Remy Kharchandy will represent Meghalaya at the national championship to be held in New Delhi on 20th May.

The team were trained and coached by Happy Red Rooster Mixed Martial Arts owner Isaiah Kharmawphlang. It may be mentioned that the academy is the only one of its kind in Meghalaya that gives Jiujitsu training to young and adults alike.
