Incumbent CM Mukul Sangma and wife taste victory in all three seats

Incumbent Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma of the Indian National Congress (INC) has proved his rivals wrong by winning in both the constituencies — Songsak and Ampati by a huge margin.

In Songsak, Mukul defeated close rival Nihim D Shira of the NPP by 1830 votes and in Ampati, he defeated Bakul Ch Hajong of the BJP by a huge margin of 8104 votes.

Meanwhile, his wife Dikkanchi D Shira of INC gained victory in Mahendraganj by defeating her rival — P Koch of BJP by a huge margin of 7861 votes.

Sweeper’s Lane row: Harijan Committee files case against formation of HLC

Suspected members of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) had allegedly demanded a whooping amount of Rs 13 crore from the owner of the coke factory, a day before triggering an IED blast at the factory site at Nonglangpar, Shallang in West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya.
