The Congress party is likely to be reduced to 20 MLAs again and this time, it will not be because of any legislator vacating any seat for another but it will be due to a shift in allegiance. This time, the Congress’s lost will be the NPP’s gain!
Senior Congress leader, Martin M Danggo is likely to join the Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) if the present Meghalaya Democratic Alliance Govenrment (MDA) assured to create the Ranikor Civil Sub Division.
While talking to media persons here today, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that the party is happy to welcome any leader to the party.
“We will be more than happy if Danggo comes to joins the party,” Tynsong said even as revealing that he along with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Home Minster James PK Sangma, Cabinet Ministers, party president Dr W Kharlukhi and party MLAs are visiting Ranikor tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that there were reports that Danggo, who represented Ranikor constituency since 1993, is planning to join the NPP.
Tynsong, however, maintained that the main purpose of the visit was to oversee the developments in Ranikor constituency.
Replying to a query, he said that Ranikor deserves a Civil Sub Division long time back to speed up the seeds of development since 75 percent of the areas is not accessible.
“The Congress led MUA Government before elections had instead inaugurated the Administrative Unit at Ranikor which is not as per the expectations of the people of the constituency,” Deputy Chief Minister said.
He, however, denied that the MDA has made a commitment to upgrade the Ranikor Administrative Unit into a Civil Sub-Division.
