Tura, August 14, 2018: 

A decomposed body of a middle-aged man was recovered near a PHE construction site in Palughat in South West Garo Hills on Monday afternoon.

Police said that the deceased, identified as Jacob B Marak, a resident of Palughat, left home on Saturday last and never returned. His dead body was recovered on Monday. “Inquest was done and we will find out the reason behind his death only after we receive the post mortem report,” said district police chief, Bobby S.W. Momin said on Tuesday.

According to Momin, the body was first recovered by construction workers, who found the body after scouting the area to find out the cause of the foul smell in the vicinity.

The SP said that according to the family members, the deceased is a habitual walker, who used to roam from one place to another. He left home on Saturday and never returned until his dead body was found on Monday.

When asked whether there was any suspicious mark on his body, Momin said “During the spot inquest, we cannot find any restrain marks on his body but we will able to ascertain the cause of death after we receive the PM report.”
