The Meghalaya Police recently nabbed four persons for their alleged attempt to rob several shops in the Phulbari Market area in West Garo Hills. The four persons were arrested two days ago on Jul 29.

The arrests were made through a Naka check conducted after a telephonic complaint was made to the SDPO – Dadenggre of some criminals trying to break into a shop. The incident took place at 2:45 am in the morning.

“A resident of Phulbari complained that some people were trying to break into a shop at the Phulbari Market area and were then travelling in a Maruti Celeri (bearing registration AS 18E 3005) towards Chibinang. Accordingly information was relayed to all neighbouring police outposts,” said SP of WGH, Dr MGR Kumar.

The ‘Naka’ check set up, yielded results as the police managed to 4 of the criminals in the car mentioned. Police also recovered rods used to break locks and shutters from their possession.

“They were caught at about 4:40 am near the Gining Mill area of Phulbari while moving towards Chibinang. All four have been arrested and necessary formalities have been observed,” said the SP.

The four arrested have been identified as Shidur Islam (24 from Kaspara, Bongaigaon, Assam), Sobir Hussain (26, from Khalidabhita, Bongaigaon), Abash Ali (24, from Lakhipur in Goalpara) and Robiul Hoque (40 from Matakata under Dhubri PS).
