With all eyes fixed on the state government over the Sweeper Lane relocation issue, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday said that the main agenda of the present Government is to make feasible recommendations on the relocation of the residents from Sweeper Lane at Them Iew Mawlong.

“We are committed to come up with a permanent solution to this long pending demand,” Tynsong said while speaking to media persons after meeting the Khasi Students’ Union, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People, Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation and the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front here today.

He said that the High Level Committee (HLC) constituted by the Government is starting from the scratch adding that it is for this reason that they have asked for detailed land survey of Sweeper Lane.

Tynsong said that the concern land partly land belongs to the Syiem of Mylliem and partly belongs to Shillong Municipal Board adding that there is very little information with the Government about the area when it comes to survey maps.

“We will move forward once we the get the survey map,” Deputy Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, KSU president, Lambok Marngar said that they have urged upon the government to find a solution of relocating the residents of the Sweeper Lane at the earliest.
