SHILLONG | Aug 02, 2019:
Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Friday informed that the State Government has already prepared the blue print for hosting of the National Games in 2022.
“The blue print for the National Games is ready. We have also submitted the proposals for development of the infrastructures for hosting of the games to the Government of India,” Sangma told reporters here today.
According to him, the proposal for construction of the main stadium has already reached the Union Cabinet. “We expect the Cabinet will clear that particular proposal may be in the next sitting,” he said.
Reacting to a query on the doubts expressed by the Public Accounts Committee over the “ability” of the State to host the games, he said that the State Government is very confident of hosting the National Games in 2022.
“Lots of planning have already been done to ensure that the ground work is laid. We are working on it for the past 12 months,” Meghalaya Chief Minister said.
He, however, said that it is a good thing that the PAC has raised its concern. “But I just want to clarify that things are moving at a very good pace. Things are not as simple as they seem since it is not about construction of one stadium. There are many aspects which are linked and interlinked with each other. The planning is very important to ensure the game is successful. I can assure the people of the State that things are in a very advanced stage,” he said.
