SHILLONG | Aug 14, 2019:

The Khasi Hills-based proscribed outfit — Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) today claimed that they have hoisted the outfit’s flag at Jowai and Khliehriat as part of its 32nd anniversary celebration.

In a press statement, HNLC general secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said that the hosting of the flag was to show that the outfit is still very much alive.

According to him, the HNLC was formed in 1987, which is one year before the death of Wycliffe Syiem in 1988. He also said that as part to celebrate the birth anniversary of Wycliffe Syiem on August 15, the HNLC will release the t-shirt which has the words spoken by him besides his photo.
