The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) unanimously passed four bills to hike salaries of the Executive Members including the Chairman, the CEM and Deputy CEM, the MDCs during its summer budget session on Friday.
The bills will also hike pension salaries of former MDCs.
The session had two sittings: the four bills were introduced in the first sitting and they were passed in the second sitting.
According to the bills, the fixed salary of the elected members is Rs. 50000 but it will come to Rs. 1.10 lakh with various allowances.
The salary of the CEM was also hiked to Rs 54000 and it will total to Rs 1. 54 lakh per month along with various allowances including house rent and medical allowance.
The opposition leader, on the other hand, will enjoy a salary of Rs. 50000 andwill come to Rs 1.39 lakh per month when various allowances are added.
The salary of the Chairman and Deputy CEM has been fixed to be Rs. 53,000 but with allowances, he is set to receive Rs 1.57 lakh.
