SHILLONG | July 25, 2019:

The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) today passed the three amendment bills which seek to enhance the salaries and allowances of the Chief Executive Member, Leader of Opposition, Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Executive Members and the Members of the Council.

The three amendment bills which was passed on the final day of the Council Summer session include KHADC Members’ (Salaries and Allowances) (Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2019, KHADC Chairman’s and Deputy Chairman’s and members of the Executive Committee (Salaries and Allowances) (Eleventh Amendment) Bill, 2019 and KHADC (Leader of Opposition) (Salaries and Allowances) (Third Amendment) Bill, 2019.

Earlier, KHADC Deputy CEM, Pyniaid Sing Syiem had move for the passing of the three amendment bills for the enhancement of the salaries.

According to the amendment bill, the MDCs will not draw a salary of Rs 1,09,100 which include fixed salary of the elected members at Rs 89,100 and TA/DA at Rs 20,000.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) will get an enhanced salary of Rs 1,26,900 while the Deputy CEM, Chairman of the KHADC and Leader of Opposition will get enhanced salaries of Rs 1,22,300.

The KHADC today also passed United Khasi Jaiñtia Autonomous District (Trading by Non-Tribals) Rules, 2019 which aimed at hiking the trade license fees.
