SHILLONG | March 28, 2019:

The full budget for the fiscal year 2019-2020 of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) was passed during the Council budget session on Thursday.

The Deputy CEM in charge Finance, Pyniaid Sing Syiem had tabled the a deficit budget of Rs 48,540 whose expenditure was estimated at Rs 215,36,17,400 crore while the estimated revenue is put at Rs 215,35,68,860.

While replying to the discussion on the budget, Deputy CEM said that there is a deficit in the budget estimate since the proposed expenditure is higher than the council’s revenue receipts.

He, however, assured the house that the Executive Committee (EC) will try its best to find ways and means to improve the revenue generation of the Council.

Though the session was fixed for five days and should conclude on Friday, KHADC Chairman, Pynshngain N Syiem prorogued the House, after passing of the budget.
