The much awaited Khasi movie “Nabon” has been invited to participate in the Kolkata International Film Festival which is scheduled to be held from November 11 to 17.
Nabon is a movie produced by the KJP Synod Sepngi under the banner of the Multimedia Ministry. This is the first festival that the movie has been invited to take part. It may be mentioned that the Kolkata International Film Festival is organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Department of West Bengal Government.
Many noted films from across the globe will be screened during the week-long festival. Nabon will participate in the Unheard India: Rare Language Indian Film Section category and will be screened on November 13 at 5.15 pm.
It may be mentioned that the post production of the movie has just been completed and it is now ready for release in the movie theatres.
This is the first Khasi movie which has the biggest cast ensemble and there are about 250 actors who have acted in this movie. The actors who acted in this movie hail from various parts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
Major portion of the movie was shot in different locations of Sohra. The producers of this movie have tried to create the feeling of Sohra 170 years ago.
The movie is based on the real life incidents and is about the life of a young girl by the name of Nabon Sawain who hailed from Mawmluh Sohra.
The movie tries to show how her interactions with the Christian Missionaries from Wales transformed her life. She decided to accept Christianity despite opposition from her family members. She had to face various difficulties but this had not deterred her faith and belief in Jesus Christ.
