SHILLONG | March 21, 2019:

KSU members of South West Khasi Hills District and Mawkyllut Unit caught a drug peddler and an addict while they were disembarking a vehicle at Laitlawsang near the office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, South West Khasi Hills District Mawkyrwat on Wednesday night.

The smuggler has been identified as Anderson Lyngkhoi from Mawten village in South West Khasi Hills District. Sources informed that the drug smuggler arrived at Laitlawsang with an intention to sell the drug to an addict (name withheld).

It was informed that the duo was caught after days of observation on their movement. “A trap was laid and the duo was caught by the members and later handed them over to the police,” said the Asst. Education Secretary, KSU South West Khasi Hills District, Pulljohn Wanniang.

“We are concerned about this growing menace in our region which entraps the youth. In this regard, the union has filed an FIR against the duo at Mawkyrwat Police Station,” said Wanniang.

Furthermore, the union urged the members of the society including Seng Samla Shnong, Seng Longkmie and VDP to lend a helping hand in tackling this problem before it becomes too late.
