TURA | Feb 12, 2019:

A man, who was earlier arrested in connection with an arson case in Dalu, succumbed to illness while in judicial custody yesterday.

The accused, who was arrested on Feb 4 on a non bailable warrant of arrest, had complained on uneasiness and was shifted to a hospital on Feb 5 but succumbed on Feb 11.

Tengkan N Marak (34) of Baburambil under Dalu PS in West Garo Hills was arrested after a NBWA was issued against him. He was forwarded to judicial custody thereafter by the Court. He had been arrested under the sections of IPC 143, 144, 436 and 427 most of which relate to rioting, arson, damage to property and unlawful gathering.

“He was arrested and produced before Court in connection to case GR233/12 on an NWBA and was sent to judicial custody. He complained of sickness and was admitted to hospital on Feb 5. He died yesterday in the UTP ward due to sickness. A report on the same has been submitted to Araimile Beat House by jail authorities and a magisterial inquest done,” said superintendent of police, WGH, Dr MGR Kumar.

The body of the deceased was then handed over to the family after PM and formalities.
