Despite claims made by the Congress that it is trying to forge an alliance with other parties to overthrow the current regime, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong has asserted that the partners in the MDA are intact even as claiming that the present NPP led MDA Government will last till the end of the term.
“There is no threat to the present Government. All the MDA partners are committed to ensure that the present Government lasts the full term,” Tynsong, who is also a senior leader of the NPA, said here on Sunday.
When asked if there are any differences within the MDA partners following the defeat of UDP candidate and MDA nominee, Jemino Mawthoh in the recent MP election, he replied in the negative while asserting that all the allies have work very hard in favour of Mawthoh.
Meanwhile, he informed that the MDA allies will soon meet to discusss on the outcome of the Shillong and Tura Parliamentary seat. Earlier, Meghalaya Congress spokesperson, Himalaya Muktan Shanpliang had stated that the party is trying to forge an alliance with like-minded parties to form the Government in Meghalaya
After the by-poll in Selsella, the strength of NPP is 21 in the House of 60 whereas that of the Congress is 19. “We will try to reach out to other parties to form the Government in the State.
According to the Congress spokesperson, there is no much difference between the Congress and the ruling party since since the NPP has 21 MLAs whereas Congress has 19.
