BJP national spokesperson, Nalin Kohli on Saturday said that the party is yet to discuss on the issue of having common candidates for the both Shillong and Tura Parliamentary seats.

“None of the alliance of the MDA coalition have come to meet us to discuss on this issue. I have also not discussed with anyone on the issue,” the BJP national spokesperson said.

He also said that the party is trying to strengthen the party and also to examine the performance of the BJP during the Assembly polls held earlier this year.

It may be mentioned that unconfirmed reports suggest that the UDP is likely to propose the name of its senior leader, Jemino Mawthoh as the common candidate of the MDA for the Shillong Parliamentary seat.

The ruling NPP is currently tight-lipped about the issue though speculations suggest that the party is likely to field chief minister Conrad Sangma’s Agatha Sangma, who gave up her Assembly seat — South Tura for her brother, from Tura Parliamentary seat.

The same, however, cannot be said of Shillong.
