Much to the delight of all government employees, the Meghalaya government will reportedly disburse 30 percent of the pending arrears to them by next month despite the cash crunch they are undergoing.
The arrears, which include financial involvement of Rs 205 crore, would be disbursed to government employees right before Christmas, a senior Finance department official said, adding that the state has been able to give out employees’ salaries in time.
The decision of the government is in tune with the fifth pay commission recommendations.
Following a recent court order, the other committed expenditure of the government will be providing UGC scale pay to college teachers as well as other allowances to deficit school and college teachers.
