SHILLONG, February 18, 2019: The National People’s Party (NPP) led by its president and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the martyrs on Saturday morning.
NPP leaders and their suppers paid respect to the brave soldiers killed in the Pulwama attack during an election rally at Sutunga in Jaintia Hills on Saturday.
In the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir, 49 CRPF personnel were killed on Thursday when their convoy was targeted by a suspected suicide bomber of Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad in Pulwama district on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
The convoy of 78 buses, in which around 2500 CRPF personnel were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar, came under attack at around 3.15 pm at Ladhu Modi Lethpora.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma grieved the soldiers’ death, saying their sacrifice will not go in vain.
