Security has been beefed up in the state ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in Meghalaya, a police official said on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police in-charge East Khasi Hills district, Claudia A Lyngwa said that arrangements for the Independence Day have been usual.
“Conducting of nakas already started in the city wherein traffic branches are working till late at night. The kind of policing that we have in our state, has always been in anticipation of troubles.Therefore the motto here is ‘better to be safe than sorry,” she said.
