A professor of NIT Meghalaya, who went missing since February 4, was found dead in a hotel in Guwahati the next day.

According to Meghalaya SP (City) Steve Rynjah, a visiting professor of NIT Meghalaya, Vinay Kumar was reported missing on Feb 4. When the police tracked his cell-phone, his location was placed near Paltan Bazaar in Guwahati.

When the state police went down to Guwahati on Feb 6, they received an information from Assam police that the concerned person was staying in Bandana Hotel, Guwahati where he allegedly claimed his life by hanging.

Police informed that he could have committed suicide on Feb 5 though the same can be ascertained when they received the PM report.
