SHILLONG | July 13, 2019:

The Meghalaya Cabinet on Friday has approved the proposal made by the Finance Department for enhancement of salary of the chairman and members of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission as per the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission.

This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong here on Friday.

Official sources informed that the Cabinet had taken the decision based on the representation submitted to the government by the chairman and members of the MPSC.

According to official sources, the Personnel department was asked to examine the proposal and they have gone through various departments seeking their views on the proposal. Official sources further said that the salary of a MPSC member will now be equal to that of a head of department while the salary of the chairperson will be equivalent to a secretary.

It may be mentioned that the last revision of the pay and allowance of the chairperson and members of the MPSC was in December, 2015.
