Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has stated that an independent inquiry headed by the Managing Director of Meghalaya Tourism Development has found no concrete evidence on the allegations against the Superintendent Engineer, Md. M.U. Ahmed.
While replying to a question which was raised by KHNAM legislator, Adelbert Nongrum during the final day of the Autumn Session of the Assembly on Friday, Sangma said that on February 15, this year, he wrote a letter to the Managing Director to examine, which was submitted by Nongrum mentioning the various allegations against a particular employee of the corporation.
“The Managing Director submitted a 7 page report after inquiring into the various allegations. The inquiry find nothing concrete to substantiate the allegations which was leveled against the particular individual,” CM Sangma informed.
To a supplementary question raised by Congress MLA from Mawlai P.T. Sawkmie, Sangma said that it is not right to remove anybody based on mere allegations. “There has to be substantial evidence to remove anyone from his position,” Meghalaya Chief Minister said.
On the murder of the 57 year old employee of the MTDC Iohbianghun Sahkhar, Conrad said that the police investigation is on regarding the death of the tourism employees.
Earlier, KHNAM legislator, Adelbert Nongrum said that he totally disagrees with the independent inquiry conducted by the Managing Director.
Nongrum said, “There are many allegations which I have submitted before Chief Minister against the Superintendent Engineer. But the inquiry find nothing,” he said.
Nongrum also raised doubts over the emergent Board meeting which was convened where the SP East Khasi Hills was also asked to attend. According to him, this very Board meeting has raise fears among employees of the MTDC to speak about all the misdeed that has happen.
