SHILLONG | June 12, 2019:

Almost a week after an employee of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) was found dead in a forest at Umbir, Ri Bhoi district. police are yet to make any headway in the case.

The deceased, identified as Iohbianghun Sahkhar (57), was a resident of Umpling and worked as an assistant manager at Orchid, Polo. A nylon rope was found tied around her neck and some bluish marks were found on her left hand.

Days after the mysterious death of the 57-yr-old woman, police registered the case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC, but, so far, they are yet to find the missing links.

“A murder case was registered but we are not 100 percent sure whether it was a murder or not. Investigation is on to establish the facts. So far, we have not arrested anyone,” said SP Ri Bhoi C Syrti.
