Meghalaya Government has decided to intervene to resolve the present crisis in the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) due to stand-off between the faculty of Cardiology department and the administration.
“We have decided to intervene the present crisis in NEIGRIHMS. We have directed to immediately convene the meeting of the Governing Council to resolve the differences at the earliest. We will review the entire situation during this meeting,” Hek said while speaking to reporters.
He further said that the patients should not suffer in view of this stand-off.
It may be mentioned that the on-going stalemate at NEIGRHIMS continued even on Thursday as the surgery of the eight patients could not be conducted since stents, pacemakers and other equipments were reportedly not made available in the institute.
Doctors said that it was assured that the equipments would be made available in the Hospital pharmacy in 48 hours but the equipments were unavailable even though 48 hours had passed.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also expressed concern over the present stalemate in NEIGRHIMS due to the unavailability stents and pacemakers for the surgeries.
It may be mentioned that even on Wednesday, surgery of as many as 12 patients were not conducted since stents, pacemakers and other equipments were not available.
He said that he will be taking up the issue with the Centre to ensure the present crisis at NEIGRHIMS is resolve.
