SHILLONG | Nov 20, 2018: 

The National People’s Party (NPP) has stated that they are yet to receive any feelers about the plan of the Chief Advisor of the Government, Dr D.D. Lapang to join the party.

“We are yet to receive any official communication from Dr Lapang about joining the party,” Deputy Chief Minister and NPP senior leader, Prestone Tynsong said here today.

Tynsong, however, said that the veteran political leader (Lapang) would be a guiding factor if he really decides to join the party.

Earlier on yesterday, the Deputy Chief Minister had gone to meet Lapang. However, Tynsong asserted that he had gone to meet Lapang in the capacity of the Chief Advisor of the Government.

He further said that they would discussed in the coordination committee if they would require the advise of Lapang in resorting the issue of common candidate in the alliance.

Lapang, who is also the former Chief Minister of the State, had left the Congress after he claimed that he was sidelined by the AICC leadership. The Congress, however, claimed that he (Lapang) left the party due to his vested political interest as he wanted to join the NPP.
