Jailed for assaulting Assam cops, Meghalaya transport officer resumes work

An enforcement inspector (EI) of the Meghalaya transport department, who was arrested and jailed for close to a month in the Assam for assaulting cops after a drunken night, allegedly resumed his services immediately after he was released on bail.

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Saturday urged the Government of India to exempt the entire state from the purview of the Citizenship Amendment Act while calling upon the centre to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state, the same of which should be extended in the state of Assam as well.
