Meghalaya: Teacher abducted by suspected criminals from Bangladesh in South Garo Hills

Tura, Jan 21,2018: A 42 year old SSA UP has been kidnapped by suspected  border criminals today from the village of Megua Songma under Dimapara outpost in the South Garo Hills district.

The incident took place at about 2:50 am this morning when a group of about five criminals cut through the gate of the house of Etwilthon D Sangma before overpowering the people inside and tying them all up. The kidnappers after tying the family then took the teacher and are suspected to have crossed the border into Bangladesh.

SHILLONG, January 21, 2018: World number 5 kick boxing athlete–Hameshaniah Suiam took the title for the fifth consecutive time in the 57 kg category at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Federation Cup which concluded yesterday in New Delhi.

The young martial arts athlete from Meghalaya shows the best of what the state has to offer. Although martial arts has been shown little importance not only in the state but across the country, passion for the sport fuels these young men to move on forward and continue to bring laurels to the state.

SHILLONG, January 21, 2018: WAKO Asia Champ Pynnehbor Mylliemngap does Meghalaya proud once again as the athlete from Smit bags gold at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Federation Cup which concluded yesterday in New Delhi.

The young martial arts athlete competed in musical form –hard style where his routine bagged him the top spot.

Despite overwhelming financial difficulties and being raised by a single mother, Pynnehbor has shown his resilience by sticking to the sport he loves. He chose musical form as his passion includes not just martial arts but dance (b-boying), and it is here he showcases his ability.

The condition of the roads and bridges in Garo Hills went from bad to worse recently following the permission of the concerned authority to allow coal-laden trucks to add more burden to the already deplorable roads and weak wooden bridges in the region.
