TURA | Aug 23, 2019:

Two persons, accused of being involved in a sexual assault case, escaped while being apprehended by the police in the South West Garo Hills district (SWGH).

While one was accused of raping a woman, the other was alleged of introducing him to the woman.

The incident took place on Aug 20, near Salmanpara PS in the district with a FIR filed by the 30 year old woman lodged on Aug 20.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, One Sengchang D Shira (21) a resident of Salmanpara took one German M Marak (20) of Betasing and introduced the victim to the accused, in trying to match make. He then left the place.

However the woman later accused German of raping her and filed a police complaint on the matter.

After the receipt of the complaint, Salmanpara police caught hold of both the accused in the case. However when they were being bundled into the police car, the two made a run for it and managed to evade the police team.

“A search for the two is currently underway,” said superintendent of police, SWGH, Rithuraj Ravi.
