SHILLONG | April 15, 2019:

The re-polling in 35 Konarchar polling station under Selsella Assembly constituency for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls ended peacefully today.

State Chief Electoral Officer, FR Kharkongor informed that for the Lok Sabha polls, the tally till 4 pm was recorded at 93.40 percent while for the Assembly by-poll, the voter turnout was 93.12 percent.

Re-polling in this polling station was necessitated due to a mismatch in the EVM machines and crisscrossing of figures due to ‘human error’ on April 11 following which the Election Commission of India announced re-polling in this PS to be held on April 15.

The re polling started at 7 am today morning.

“It was robust, healthy voting. There were showers but tented arrangements were in place,” Kharkongor said.

Out of a total of 674 eligible voters under Konachar polling station, 665 cast their ballot for the Lok Sabha and 663 for the assembly by-poll. This is 14 votes less than the April 11 election numbers (668 for Lok Sabha) and (674 for assembly by-poll).

Polling was brisk since early morning with more than 42% casting their votes by 11 am. The count had risen to 66% by 1 pm and finally closed at 93% overall.
