Shillong, Feb 21:
Suspected members of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) had allegedly demanded a whooping amount of Rs 13 crore from the owner of the coke factory, a day before triggering an IED blast at the factory site at Nonglangpar, Shallang in West Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya.
When contacted, West Khasi Hills SP, Bashan Laloo today confirmed the report of HNLC demanding Rs 13 crore from the owner of the coke factory.
“The police have also registered a su-moto FIR on this incident. We have also registered a case,” Laloo said.
As per reports, one Dharambir Bansal from Kyllongmathei Shallang has filed an FIR at Shallang Police Station that he received a call on February 19 from one person (mobile number — 8131883512) who claimed to be a member of the HNLC.
He also claimed that the HNLC member had demanded Rs 13 crore and said that a day after he got the call, an IED blast was triggered at the factor which is owned by one Robert Sohbar.
As per the FIR, Bansal said that the people who were responsible for the IED blast also damaged the windshield of the truck bearing registration number NL 01 0724 which was parked at the factory site.
Meanwhile, the police are still looking for the people who are responsible for the blast at coke factory.
It may be mentioned that the HNLC has claimed responsibility for the IED blast at the Coke factory in WKH yesterday.
